
Marie Jones received her BA in Communicative Arts from
Pembroke University in 1974, along with her certification in
Middle School Language Arts and High School English. She
did master's work in Dance education at the University of
Alaska and in Gifted Education at NC State University. She is
also certified in Paideia, which includes Socratic teaching
methods for English and Social Studies. She has taught
dance, drama, Paideia, speech, debate, and English in North
Carolina public schools for twenty-three years. She served
as director for Alaska Youth Theatre in 1987 and taught
dance for Alaska Dance Theatre from 1985-1987. She was
selected as Kiwanis Teacher of the Year in 1992, has been
included in Who's Who Among America's Teachers four
times, and has directed and choreographed more than 100
musicals. The performance supervisor for all main stage
productions, Mrs. Jones currently teaches Drama I, Drama III,
TROUPE III (H), and TROUPE IV (H) courses. Next year she
intends to teach a course in video performance.
